Mount Chiliad & Paleto Forest
Mountain rescue, forest patrol, and northern wilderness protection
About Paleto Bay Office
The Paleto Bay Ranger Office serves the Mount Chiliad region, including Paleto Forest, Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness, and the northern coastline. Our rangers specialize in mountain rescue operations, high-altitude emergencies, and forest fire prevention.
Mount Chiliad is one of the most popular hiking destinations in San Andreas, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Our rangers maintain trails, operate the mountain rescue team, and respond to emergencies from the summit to the forest below.
The ancient redwood forests surrounding Paleto Bay are home to diverse wildlife including deer, bears, and mountain lions. Protecting these ecosystems while ensuring visitor safety is our primary mission.
